Our Curriculum at My Sweet Little Jardin
At My Sweet Little Jardin, we focus on child-centered teaching, developmentally appropriate practices, and the belief that 'play is a child's work.' Our goal is to develop each child's confidence, creativity, and life-long learning skills in our program. To support this goal, we use an Early learning Curriculum that is based on objectives for development and learning that focus on all the most critical areas for success: Language and Literacy, Cognitive Development, Mathematics, Science, Foreign Language (Spanish), Fine Motor Skills, Gross Motor Skills, Social Development and Personal Development. These objectives are built into every classroom activity, which means that the teacher helps your child develop skills and knowledge in these critical areas all day long.
Early Childhood Education
- Language and Literacy: begin to develop their writing skills by tracing lines and identifying the alphabet.
- Cognitive Development: comparing, classifying, recognizing and creating patterns and one to one correspondence.
- Mathematics: Basic math skills will continue to be developed by identifying numbers 1-20, counting objects, and measurement.
- Science: explore cause and effect, participate in simple experiments, learn about life cycles and other elements of science.
- Foreign Language (Spanish): learn to count 1-10 in Spanish, songs and new words.
- Fine Motor Skills: hold their pencil properly for writing and drawing skills, proper scissor control, lacing, buttoning, zippering and snapping.
- Gross Motor Skills: dancing, running, jumping, throwing, kicking and various other gross motor skills.
- Social Development: begin to recognize and express other’s emotions and label them. Help them to use their words and share toys.
Personal Development: Using words to express their emotions, practicing manners, cleaning up after themselves, self-independence and self-soothing techniques.
